- The Dalmia Companies came into existence in India in the early 1930s as the Dalmia-Jain Group.
- Founded by the late Ramkrishna Dalmia, with the assistance of his younger brother Jaidayal Dalmia and his son-in-law Sahu Shanti Prasad Jain, the group’s activities included Banks and Insurance Companies, Newspapers and Publishing Houses, Aviation and Railway Companies, Electric Supply Companies, Collieries, a Motor Car Company, Biscuits, Cement, Chemicals, Distilleries, Dairy Products, Jute, Paper, Plywood, Paints, Refractories, Sugar, Textiles and others.
- The Group’s greatest contribution to national development was in the emergence of the Indian cement industry. Entering this area in 1936 as a challenge to the monopoly of one powerful combine, the ACC Ltd., the Group set up several cement factories.
- Reflecting the geographic expansion of the group and its presence in each corner of the country, cement factories were set up in Dalmianagar (Bihar, East India), Dalmia Dadri (Haryana, North India), Dandot (West Punjab, now in Central Pakistan), Dalmiapuram (Tamil Nadu, South India), Karachi (Sind, now in South Pakistan), Rajgangpur (Orissa, East India) and Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan, North India).
- DCBL has year on year moved up the value chain with a consistent record of making profits and paying dividends,making the company financially strong and stable. With a total income of over Rs 1287 crores DCBL has business interests in two major segments, Cement and Sugar.
- Sugar Division of the company is contributing around 30 % to the topline. The sugar unit of the company with 5000 tonnes/ day crushing capacity is located at Ramgarh in Uttarpradesh.
- Cement Division with 1.2 million tonne cement plant in Tamilnadu contributes around 62% of the sales. DCBL one of the oldest player in Cement Industry in Tamilnadu is known for the manufacture of special cements.
- DCBL's present capacity is 3.5 million tonnes.It plans to invest Rs 1400 crore to more-than-double its capacity to 8 million tonnes by March 2009.
- DCBL is expanding its cement footprint in the Southern India with the launch of its 2 Greenfield projects, each of 2.25MN tonnes capacity, at Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh and at Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu.The company has well known brands such as Dalmia Super Roof, Dalmia Foundations and Vajram.

- Today, Dalmia Cements are one of the most profitable players in the industry, with sustainable high margins and strong financials.
- Income for the Quarter Ended 31.12.07 is Rs 458.54 Crores as compared to Rs 288.46 Crores for the Quarter Ended 31.12.2006.
- Net Profit for the Quarter Ended 31.12.07 is Rs 112.54 Crores as compared to Rs 64.84 Crores for the Quarter Ended 31.12.2006.

- The stock had been in steady downtrend since the stock reached alltime high of Rs 580 in the first week of January 2008. Further, the stock touched a Low of Rs 242.65 during second week of March 2008. During this period the stock made a Lower tops and Lower bottoms.
- On 10-03-2008, the stock formed a Dragon fly candle stick pattern on the daily charts indicating a reversal in the trend. Subsequently, huge volumes witnessed since then.
